Google hopes that means great support, cell service, affordable data and a sprinkling of magic. It's a replacement for your mobile phone carrier, done in a Googley way. Google's invite-only Project Fi caught my attention when it launched in April. It was there the first time I browsed WAP pages over GPRS. There are more robust billing and pricing options available and network support keeps getting better.

Use my referral code to get $20 to get started with Fi. It has since graduated to become a proper Google product and has robust iOS support along with a dedicated iOS app (with visual voicemail in the app).

When I wrote this in 2015, it was known as Project Fi.

I now use it with 2 phone numbers (on a group plan) and a data-only SIM for my Thinkpad X1C laptop that has an LTE modem. Four years later, I'm still loving and using Google Fi.
